Let us walk you through a quick tour of our facility.
We start by buying the highest-grade lumber on the market from various
mills located in the Northern Appalachia and the Northern Region
of the United States. Right now it takes about one million board
feet a month to process our orders.
Before unloading the lumber from the trucks, we check to make sure
it has the correct moisture content. If the lumber passes that test,
we send it to our lumber grading area. Here the lumber is re-graded
to make sure it meets the NHLA standards for FAS grade before it
is processed.
Next we send the lumber to our high-speed planer. Here we surface
the outer layer of the board off so that it exposes any defects
that we may need to rip or cut out. By knowing where the defects
are we can get a better yield out of the board.
Once planed, the lumber is sent to our gang rip saw. Here the lumber is
sized for width. We set the saw up to rip the needed dimensional sizes
for the profiles that have been ordered by our customers.
Next the blank that is made by the gang rip is sent to the molder.
This machine is the one that cuts the specific profile (design)
out of the wood blank. Too accomplish this we first must make a
set of steel knives with our own knife grinding equipment located
in our plant. We have five high-speed molders that help us complete
orders quickly.
After the molder has cut the profile, our customers have the option
of having it profile sanded for an even smoother finish. We have
four profile sanders that do a great job of getting material ready
to be finished with stains and topcoats. The profile sanders use
a combination of sanding wheels and sanding belts that conform to
the profile shape, to make a smoother surface.
The next option is having your moldings pre-finished. We have four
finish lines. Three that provide a UV topcoat and one that provides
a conventional topcoat. We mix our stains in house to keep tight
control on the colors. Our finish department can also box and bar
code your product if needed.
Finally we are ready to ship another quality product. The material
is packaged so that it will be safe and sound during shipment. We
can ship via our truck or by other carriers of your choice.
